Anyone who knows me knows that in addition to music and photography, I love video games. Since becoming an international man of mystery (read: moving into a tiny flat in London without a telly or any home video game consoles), that love has been devoted primarily to the Nintendo DS. Within weeks of moving here two years ago, I stumbled upon a great group of social gamers that call themselves DS:London. Every few weeks they meet in a pub to drink and game using the portable console’s wifi capabilities. Through their meetups I found not only a fantastic way to build up my Bomberman skills, but also a lovely bunch of mates.
On Saturday 25 October 2008, DS:London will take on a challenge greater than the combined fury of Bowser, Ganon and a rather cross Princess Peach. To celebrate the London Games Festival 2008, these Nintendo maniacs will try for the Guinness World Record for the most people playing DS simultaneously in one room. They’re hoping to pack more than 500 people into London Metropolitan University’s Rocket Centre from 4–5 p.m., so come along and join in if you want to make gaming history. While the event is free, voluntary donations to Children In Need will be accepted and are encouraged.

I own a DS as well but my favroute games are RPGS, Sonic, Mario and Castlevania games. Im currently playing Dragon Quest:chapters of the chosen as I really love the Dragon Quest series and even hold that series in high regard over Final Fantasy. I own a Nintendo DS lite.
So what games are you into???
It sounds like we’re pretty much into the same games! Must be something about Mario’s stylish cap…
I love RPGs and while I dig Mario more than Sonic, both are ace. The Mario RPGs are some of my favourite games of all time, especially the GameCube’s “Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door”. If you can get your hands on the GameBoy Advance game “Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga”, it’s well worth playing. The DS sequel, “Partners In Time”, was also fun.
I’m dying for that DS-only “Dragon Quest IX” to come out. I played some of the old ones on the NES when I was a wee lad and recently enjoyed “Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime”. The DS reissue of “Final Fantasy IV” that just came out should keep me busy until Christmas, since sadly I’ve been almost too busy to game lately.
I noticed that Mario kinda wears an open style of flatcap. Also in Lethal Weapon the bulder who bulds Mel Gibsons characters house wears a flatcap and even uses the lips of the cap as a pencil holder with the pencil held between the two layers. I was impressed the style could hold a pencil like that and it gave him both a stylish and practical look. All he needed was a pair of groovy sunglasses.
Im dying to play Dragon quest IX as well as it looks sweet in the previews of it
Dragon Quest chapters of the chosen is def worth tracking down as its a smaller version of the PS1 version. adds sparkle and class to the time honered gameplay and has an extra dungeon and 2 new chapters added to the gameplay as well as the 5 NES chapters
Are you a fan of Chrono Trigger?? If so its gotten a Nintendo DS release and its both a classic SNES version as well a an extended DS version. Im getting it ASAP.
I actually never played Chrono Trigger back in the day, which is shocking considering how much I dig classic games. I’m looking forward to playing the DS reissue and I’m actually kind of glad that they left the graphics mostly the same, although some reviewers held that against it.
I’m not sure if I’ll play Chrono Trigger next or Square-Enix’s new just-for-the-DS RPG, The World Ends With You. Both will be ace, I’m sure.
Cool I am looking forward to Dragon quest V and Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger and Dragon quest 5 are both awesome games. Im currently playing Chrono Trigger and Im in the future world.
Dragon quest 9 will be out in 2010 so Im very excited on playing that as well as part 10 for the Wii
And also Dragon quest 6 remade for DS so hopefully it will stay true to the SNES version while improving any flaws
