I however HATE it when people stare from cars esp. if they are driving and their eyes leave the road just to stare at me in my flatcap. It's dangerous and puts both other cars and pedestrains at risk. Tecnically it wouldnt be my fault if they wrapped their car around a tree or hit someone but I would still feel awful about it.

Thanks for the comment, Tim, and everyone! I'm quite honored that after all this time, so many people still use this thread to discuss caps. I feel like perhaps I should start a proper message board / forum so that our chats can grow more naturally. Would that be something any of you chaps would use?

I'm learning so much about caps, too. I think I need to expand beyond my Kangol 504s into other styles. A herringbone tweed cap sounds splendid. Also, I have a beard, too, Tim. Beard + cap = excellence! :)

Hi Lloyd just come back to the flat cap after many years away. The wife bought me a nice herringbone tweed one for Christmas and I've bought myself a suede one for work.I agree with you that, activities pemitting, the cap must be worn facing forwards. I've just got the beard about where I want it and am considering lighting the old Peterson up after many years lying dormant in the draw.I think a Kangol 504 will be next on the list to get.

Wow there's some passionate flatcap peeps out there. I've the opportunity to wear a flatcap to my sisters 40th tomorrow and have been advised by the giving person that I should go Samuel L style. Said giving person is a friend that works in the kangol distribution channel and I always take her advice on such matters quite seriously. Now I'm a little confused. Is it seriously that much of a wank to wear it backwards? Noting this comment trail is 3 years old and counting.. but styles and style preference change over the years right

Thanks, Ricardo. I had a brief look through your job postings, but fortunately saw nothing for Design UK. It's a highly unstable company that solves its problems by recklessly hiring-then-making-redundant over and over again. No serious developer should consider for a second working for an agency with a record of playing fast and loose with lives and careers like Design UK.
